Definition

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. Documents written in HTML structure information using elements (marked-up in the form of tags) to designate strings of text. When the HTML is interpreted by a user agent, the HTML markup (and also CSS instructions, if present) determines how the text will be displayed or rendered.
